We are so pleased to announce Janet Berg as our new Development and Marketing Director at Banyan Community. Following a robust search process, Janet emerged as our top candidate based on her strong professional knowledge and successful experience in fundraising and marketing. In addition, Janet’s commitment to community development work that values diversity and inclusivity as well as innovation and growth resonated well with our mission and model. As impressed as we are by Janet’s accomplishments, we are equally engaged by her capacity to listen, tell compelling stories, and find joy and passion in her work.
In her role as Development and Marketing Director, Janet will create and implement Banyan’s development plan, including major gifts, grant strategies, and donor relations. In addition, she will plan fundraising events, including our upcoming 25th Anniversary Dinner, as well as manage foundation relationships and oversee marketing and communications for the organization.
Janet brings many years of experience as a Senior Development and Marketing Specialist and Annual Fund Manager at Allina Health/United Hospital. She then joined the Science Museum of Minnesota as its Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations and, later, was promoted to Major Gifts Manager. In her position at the Science Museum, Janet effectively managed a sizable portfolio of donors, developed an engagement plan for private and corporate foundations, and was responsible for successfully soliciting major gifts to support STEM program experiences and equity in science exhibits. Janet has a Business – Marketing Degree from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and has completed fundraising courses through Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
