Friends Bring Stability

Annually Banyan hosts four family gatherings. These are events where ALL the Banyan youth and their families gather for fun and friendship. Our roller-skating event saw 83% of our new families attend! Read more about this fun evening and see the photos...

Open House for Programs


Banyan held its first ever programs Open House for prospective families to come tour the building. 

Families met with our Family Advocate, one of our ASPIRE youth, and a number of our program staff. There was great conversation about the programs offered by Banyan, especially regarding the high school options.

Kick Those Winter Blues


Winter can be a stressful time of year, but Banyan is helping neighbors kick out those winter blues. From January to March Banyan is offering free Zumba classes on Wednesday evenings. Participants of all ages have joined, including a pregnant mother and a husband-and-wife couple!

Zumba is a staple of Banyan programing for Phillips community members. To date, a quarter of our participants are not connected to our youth programing. 

Offer a Networking Hand?

Banyan is looking for a few willing individuals to help with a couple Scholars Networking nights. One of the tasks of our College and Career Counselor is to help Scholars gain skills that move them toward skilled employment.

Banyan is looking for professional volunteers who would be willing to practice networking skills with the youth on April 20th or May 2nd. Please contact Janet Berg to learn more. janet@banyancommunity.org

Birthday Bash FUN!!!

Our annual Birthday Bash party is one of the most beloved and well attended youth events. During the festivities one of our Banyan elementary youths remarked: “If it wasn’t for Banyan and all their fun things, I wouldn’t be so happy." Youth ate cake, played games, and donned a birthday crown!

Birthday Bash evening was full of joy, laughter, and community. “This is my best birthday ever!” one of the students exclaimed on her way to creating her crown.
