Banyan Book Club—join us as we discuss a classic!

The Hey Banyan! book club is an opportunity to read (or re-read) and discuss thought-provoking books that explore topics of race, class, and culture.

Our first book in the series is Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? It is a classic, bestselling book by Beverly Daniel Tatum, a renowned authority on the psychology of racism. Tatum argues that straight talk about our racial identities is essential if we are serious about enabling communication across racial and ethnic divides.

The discussion will be led by Shamayne Braman, Director of Diversity and Inclusion at HealthPartners. Shamayne was recently named by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal as one of the Twin Cities’ 40 Under 40 honorees and is passionate about creating inclusive cultures and communities.
