As Banyan Community kicks off the 2024-25 school year, our THRIVE (K-5) and SOAR (6-8) programs are back, offering academic, social, and emotional growth from 2:00 to 6:00 pm daily, helping children build skills for a brighter future.
THRIVE fosters leadership, curiosity, and a sense of belonging by offering educational enrichment, personalized homework help, and social-emotional learning. Bennett, one of our youth educators, shares it’s “nice to have the kids back, filling the space!” Students also benefit from physical activity, nutritious meals, and community mentorship. Fifth-grade leaders are stepping into new roles, becoming role models for younger students.
Kayne, our Secondary Program Manager, says, “I love seeing the building full of activity and watching the connections kids make as they grow and change. It’s inspiring to see them move up grades, take on new challenges, and feel welcome, especially as new youth come in.”
SOAR helps middle schoolers explore careers, develop life skills, and grow as leaders. Barbara, another youth educator, adds, “I’m impressed with the strong attendance—nearly hitting 100% is something to be proud of!” The energy and engagement from our students are a testament to the importance of Banyan’s programs.
