For five weeks every summer we pack in the fun at Banyan! Cool Off Days nurtures curiosity and learning. This year Banyan was able to welcome 5 new families and their children to programs! Each week in the elementary program of Cool Off Days has a different focus theme.

During the second week of programs youth learned about different places and features in the world. Youth made flags, learned about volcanoes, and made new furry llama friends. Did you know llamas are a part of the camel family and are primarily found in South America?

While youth are participating in programs they can earn a Star Ticket. Tickets are given to youth that have demonstrated a Universal Expectation of Banyan. For example, a youth might have waited patiently for their turn, used positive language, or invited someone else into an activity. Every day of Cool Off Days programming one youth is randomly chosen to be the Star Student. This year we congratulate the Super Star Students. These youth earned the most tickets over all 5 weeks. Great job Maria, Joshua and Erik!

“Banyan youth took home 285 books from the Free Book Buggie!”

Cool Off Days also welcomes many visitors to the building, like the local fire department, Dodge Nature Center, the Free Book Buggie, Shirzan Dance Collective, Llovable Llamas, the Works Museum, and heART Studios. That’s a big list in 5 weeks and it doesn’t even include the field trips! There are so many great adventures we can’t even recount them all, but the memories made are truly innumerable. Here are a couple videos for you to enjoy a window into Cool Off days.
