Our Senior Social Club brings older adults together to socialize, create, and celebrate life through chair yoga, yard games, cookie baking and many more activities. It’s become a bi-monthly highlight for many participants, offering a sense of belonging and fun.

Banyan Community began in the 1990s by providing a safe space for youth to gather and connecting neighbors. In the early 2000s tutoring was added to intentionally support youth in crossing the graduation finish line. A decade later staffing was added to strategically partner with parents and caregivers. In 2016 Banyan Community’s permanent home was completed and in 2018 a new branch of programming was added, the Community, Leadership, Education and Connection Program (CLEC). Unfortunately, the pandemic complicated Banyan’s flexibility and delayed program expansion to the community at large. However, last year Banyan took a historic step, officially offering programming for neighbors in every age, from babies in Seedlings to elderly in the Senior Social Club.

Linda, a regular attendee, shares “I love coming together with other seniors, and I love all the activities we get to participate in.”

One of Linda’s favorite moments was making Christmas cards—and she proudly recalled that her card was even featured on the cover of the program’s holiday newsletter. At Banyan Community, fostering connections is at the heart of our mission which is why we have partnered with St. Paul’s Home (Cassia Independent and Hospice Apartments). We believe that the power of compassionate and committed connections lead to improved social emotional health and enriched lives.
