National Night Out by the Numbers

Through Banyan’s Lighthouse Network we have the privilege to support many Phillips neighborhood blocks. This block club program nurtures community, promotes safety, and facilitates communication between neighbors. Fourteen blocks took advantage of Banyan’s partnership for National Night Out 2023. Our staff assists block leaders with the city paperwork to have their streets closed for the event and Banyan provided leaders with material support. Leaders picked up kits with hot dogs along with all the fixings, paper products, drinks, no parking signs and more all provided by Banyan to ease the burden of hosting.

Most of the block parties supported by Banyan enjoyed a visit from the Mounted Patrol Police horses. The youth zoomed around freely on bikes and scooters enjoying the freedom to use the street openly. And one lucky block enjoyed fresh roasted sweet corn grown in a neighbor’s front yard! Supporting local block parties is one way Banyan Community lives out our mission being rooted in the Phillips neighborhood to transform lives by developing youth, strengthening families, and creating community.
