Jazmine Panora, Engineer at Microsoft, is an alumni of Banyan Community’s high school ASPIRE program. Before her high school graduation in 2017, Jazmine received a Higher Ground donor scholarship to attend a private school along with access to weekly tutoring through Banyan.

“I never considered myself to be ‘good’ at math but I enjoyed the challenge.”- Jazmine

One of Banyan’s flagship programs supports youth in the Phillips neighborhood to thrive through high school. One tutor, Jazmine recalls fondly, was an engineer who often worked with her and they had numerous discussions about her vision for the future.

“Without his conversations I never would have known what an engineer does, let alone feel like I could do that for my career. I could be an engineer.” -Jazmine

Jazmine decided to study Computer Science at the University of Minnesota where she joined The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). Currently, she is on the board of the SHPE Professional Chapter and is a Technical Support Engineer for Microsoft.

Jazmine will be the featured speaker on May 8th at the Corporate Gathering Fundraiser along with Sheletta Brundidge. Banyan Community will also recognize and thank the donor couple that provided Jazmine’s high school scholarship along with her inspiring tutors. At this breakfast we will be raising funds to support the next generation of Banyan Community youth.
